Biography

Age: 24 as of 2008
Gender: Male
Present Location: Melbourne, Australia

Early Life
Born and raised in country Australia. Lots of space, lots of time to draw.

Tertiary Education
Bachelor of Creative Arts - Major Visual Media.

Ambition
My educational choices from senior school to university focused on illustration, with a strong interest in biological science kept mainly amateur. I have a passion for both disciplines and so seek to combine science and art, both by serving the science community as an illustrator and by trying to develop good looking and plausible creatures from other worlds. I am working towards publishing and illustrating science fiction and science picture books.

Design Ethic
My interest in science has influenced my style, and each major work I try to render as accurately as possible without sacrificing aesthetics. Even if the creature or machine does not exist, studying science and quality reference material helps me try to make each picture improve on the last. Photorealism would be wonderful, but perhaps in a few years. I also love doing line art, a fun style reminiscent of comic books and the first style I used when I started out.

For wildlife illustration, accuracy is key and I use a variety of reference materials to ensure illustrations of existing creatures are as lifelike as required.

Film
Science fiction on screen can be fantastic, and I spend alot of time developing film sequences and storyboards. During university, I took classes in animation and 3D modeling, both skills which I am still developing so that some day when I hope to take part in making features and documentaries I will have a more rounded view of the industry. Good fun too.

Present Situation
As of late 2007 I began work as an artist at Bluetongue Studios Australia in Melbourne, a subsidiary video game studio of THQ. I still take commissions if they tweak my interest.
